Spotlight
Spotlight automatically curates the best community content by tracking emoji reactions and promoting messages that meet a configured threshold to a dedicated highlight channel. It rewards organic engagement and gives staff a hands-off way to surface quality posts.
How Spotlight Works
- A member posts a message in any non-excluded channel.
- Other members react with the configured spotlight emoji.
- Once the reaction count meets or exceeds the threshold, InfiniTea copies the message to the designated spotlight channel.
- If role rewards are configured, the original poster receives the reward role automatically.
The system ensures each message can only be spotlighted once, preventing duplicates even if reactions continue to accumulate.
Staff Workflow
- Configure the trigger: Choose which emoji activates spotlight and set the minimum reaction threshold.
- Set the destination: Select the channel where spotlighted messages will be posted.
- Define exclusions: Exclude specific channels (like staff-only or NSFW channels) and roles (like bots) from being eligible.
- Optional role rewards: Grant a role to members whose messages get spotlighted, recognizing contributors.
- Optional custom format: Use the Spotlight Message Builder to control how spotlighted messages appear in the destination channel.
Policy Suggestions
- High-volume servers (1000+ active members): Set thresholds of 5-10 reactions to avoid flooding the spotlight channel.
- Smaller communities (under 200 active): A threshold of 3 reactions works well to encourage participation.
- Keep one channel dedicated exclusively to spotlight output so moderators can easily review what's being highlighted.
- Exclude announcement channels and bot channels to keep spotlights focused on genuine member contributions.
- Consider using a unique custom emoji for spotlight reactions to distinguish them from casual reactions.
